Food Allergy Consulting [Free & Paid]

Hi, I’m Zoë!

I started Invisibly Allergic with the sole purpose of raising peanut allergy, anaphylaxis, and food allergy awareness. For the majority of my life, I didn’t know the power and value of my own food allergy knowledge. Now in my thirties, I appropriately celebrate the immense wisdom I possess, and am confident in knowing the ins and outs of my own life with a food allergy. It was a long process, but I’ve learned that often I am my own best food allergy resource and my own best food allergy advocate. It required turning inward and listening to my own intuition and honoring that, which is why I now offer advice as a food allergy consultant here through Invisibly Allergic.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again and again, food allergies are a spectrum and every food allergy is as individualized as the person. Not to mention, every allergic reaction is different. And I mean per person, and also, per reaction. I’ve found this lack of generalization can make discussing food allergies tricky. However, with an open mind and careful listening, there are ways to adapt and learn to live as safely as possible with any food allergy and multiple food allergies. Trust me!

While there should be no food allergy generalizations made, I’m here to help consult on all things related to living a safe life with food allergies. As someone who knows the space well and is an authoritative figure in it, I’m happy to offer these food allergy services and food allergy consulting. While I mostly discuss my food allergy here on Invisibly Allergic, I do have eczema, environmental, and chemical allergies, and can speak to living with those, too. Check out my services below & reach me at my contact form anytime!

Food Allergy Advice: A Virtual Discussion [FREE]

Whether you’re in need of real-world food allergy strategies, seeking travel advice, wondering how to host an allergy-friendly event, or feeling confused while reading food labels, I’m here to discuss it in a friendly and caring way.

I will explain how I manage my food allergy in an easy-to-understand way. I may provide & cite trustworthy sources and will absolutely provide my own personal knowledge and insight. I know when to point you to someone else if you need a professional opinion. There’s no charge or fee, just a 1-1 conversation with a food-allergic individual happy to be of assistance if possible. Equity in the medical and food allergy community is very important to me, and I don’t ever want money to stand in the way, which is why there’s no charge.

Food Allergy Representation Consulting [Sliding Scale]

A note to non-food allergic creatives: Before you film a movie with allergic reactions being portrayed inaccurately; i.e., the Will Smith Hitch allergy scene, doing your due diligence and asking for advice from someone living that reality will better serve all parties involved, including your audience and the validity of your project.

This goes across the board in the disability space. If you are working on a project representing someone with a disability, please either hire a disabled actor and/or consult with someone living that daily experience. Too often inaccurate allergy and disability representation happens across mass media, leading to stereotypes and misconceptions that are harmful and could even be deadly in the case of misrepresenting food allergies.

I can provide direction if you’re seeking to represent life with a food allergy, eczema, environmental allergies, chemical allergies, or an allergic reaction. If you’re seeking medical or professional advice, I’d be happy to help connect you to a trustworthy source in the space to work with. If you’re reading this, even if you don’t use my food allergy consulting, I thank you for making sure you’re providing an accurate media portrayal.

Note: I am not a doctor, lawyer, or allergist, and I’m not trying to give medical advice. My advice is from my own personal lived and learned experience. I will happily do the work to connect you with a professional or outside trusted resource if anything is beyond my scope of expertise.

“Being severely allergic to a food, people assume that most settings are safe, and that moving through life being mindful of what I eat is my main focus… in my experience, cross-contact is a much larger and difficult part of my food allergy to control.”

2024 Life Update: Talking Isolation Due to Health Limits

In the past, I’ve not wanted to post anything besides food allergy content here on Invisibly Allergic, because it has felt irrelevant to my mission of raising food allergy awareness, food allergy education, making food allergy policy change, and finding others who need relatable food allergy content, the same way I do.
